A Word from Your Town Chairman –
After over two years of work, the Town of Wheaton Comprehensive plan is ready for public approval. The Compre-hensive Plan may be viewed on our website at www.townofwheaton.com . If you do not have internet, you can view a paper copy at the town hall by appointment. Please call Mark Christenson at 874-6612 to view the plan. The Comprehensive Plan is over 180 pages; therefore paper copies will be very limited. A public hearing will be held on November 12th at 7:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Town Hall to adopt the Town of Wheaton Comprehensive Plan. Please put this date on your calendar and plan to attend. Everyone is welcomed! I would like to thank the Wheaton Parks and Planning Commission for all of their hard work in putting the Wheaton Comprehensive Plan together.
The town website address is: www.townofwheaton.com. You are able to view the agenda of monthly meetings, monthly meeting minutes, phone numbers and addresses for Town Board Members, calendar of events, Town ordinances, notices of coming events, forms & permits, plus other links for you to check out. Please take time to look at the website. Ruth Fagerland is the person to contact if you have information that should be included on the web page. If you have knowledge of our Towns past history as to how Wheaton came to be, important facts regarding past history, etc, Ruth would be happy to include this on the website. Volunteers Wanted:
Do you like adventure? Would you like to serve your community? Consider joining the Town of Wheaton volunteer fire department. The firemen that serve our township could use your help. Contact any firefighter for more information or attend one of their monthly meetings. They meet on the second Monday of the month at 8:00 p.m. at the fire station.
Fire Numbers/Fire permits – Please make sure that your fire number is visible from both directions. Cut brush and tall grass away from the fire number. Do not pile snow where it may block the visibility of the fire number. The Town of Wheaton does not issue fire permits, but you are asked to call 723-5488 to let the fire department know that you are having a controlled fire.
UNLAWFUL TO PUSH SNOW ONTO PUBLIC HIGHWAYS & TOWN ROADS
The Chippewa County Highway Department & the Town of Wheaton would again like to remind everyone that it is not only dangerous but unlawful to plow or push snow onto or across a public highway or town road. Section 346.94(5), Wisconsin statutes prohibits this action.
Snow left in ridges or piles on the highway or road, creates a hazard for vehicles. Snow piled on the shoulders may also create problems for equipment during normal plowing operations and increases the possibility of snow drifting across the highway or road in these areas. We encourage your cooperation for the safety of all who travel the roads and highways in the Town of Wheaton and Chippewa County.
Note: the Town of Wheaton is not in the driveway snow plowing business!
The town road crew wants to remind you that your recycling & garbage bins need to be placed at least eight feet off the road-way. By not placing garbage receptacle off the roadway you are causing a hazard for other motorists.
THE WHEATON BALL PROGRAM – The Wheaton Ball Program welcomes children ages four and older to participate in their ball program. Children must be at least four years old as of April 30th. Registration should be in February or March.

If you have ANY questions or doubts, call the Chippewa County Zoning Office at 715-726-7940.
