April 8, 2010 CORRECT DOG LICENSE FEES INFORMATION
THE INFORMATION IN THE RECENT WHEATON TOWN NEWS - SPRING/SUMMER 2010 CONCERNING THE DOG LICENSE FEES IS NOT ACCURATE.
THE CORRECT DOG LICENSE FEES INFORMATION IS:
ALTERED DOGS (SPAYED OR NEUTERED) - $8.00
UNALTERED DOGS (UNSPAYED OR UNNEUTERED) - $13.00
MULTIPLE DOGS - FOR UP TO 12 TAGS - $60.00
FOR EACH ADDTIONAL TAGS FOR MULTIPLE DOGS AFTER 12 -$7.00 EACH
PROOF OF CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION IS NEEDED. Without proof, dog license will not be issued.
Proof of rabies vaccination will be returned to owner along with dog tags.
PENALTIES
A minimum late fee of $5.00 shalled be assessed the owner of each dog 5 months of age or over who fails to obtain a dog license by April 1st of each year, or within 30 days of acquiring ownership on or before the dog reached licensable age. The minimum late fee may be raised by minicipal action. Any owner, who fails to have a dog vaccinated against rabies as required by statue may be required to forfeit not less than $50.00 or more than $100.00.
