MINUTES OF MAY 12, 2009
Notices were posted at the Town Hall, Fire Station, Recycling Center, Eau Claire Travel Center on May 10, 2009.
Paul Krumenauer called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Present: Paul Krumenauer, Bud Beckwith, Bob Sworski, Al Solberg, Ken Custer, Mark Christenson. Absent: Ruth Fagerland.
Minutes of the April meeting were accepted as read. Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented. There was no update on the comprehensive plan.
Bob presented maps and the resolution for transfer of 103rd Street right-of-way. Al motioned to have Mark notice the resolution in the papers. Bud second, motion carried.
Bob reported playground equipment installation will be finished Thursday and dugout construction will begin Friday the 15th.
Chad Gehwiler was present representing the seven land owners on 46th Ave. The cost of blacktopping would be $28,000.00 and each landowner would be assessed $4,000.00. No decision was made but the Board may look at plowing the road in the winter and charging the landowners for that.
Paul opened Board of Review. The first meeting of the Board of Review was set for June 30, 2009 from 5p.m.to 7p.m. Open Book was set for June 23rd from 1:30p.m to 3:30p.m. Al motioned to adjourn Board of Review. Bob second, motion carried.
Elton Christopherson presented his request to sell 25 acres of land with improvements. Ken suggested he sell 5 acres but retain the right to farm 2.5 acres as law will allow.
Bob made a motion to grant a Conditional Use Permit for Larry Reit/Haas & Sons to operate a non-metalic mine at 6058 30th Avenue with the following conditions: As stated at the May 5th Plan Commission meeting, hours of operation will be 6a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and the crusher may only run for a total of 3 weeks from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Haas trucks are to travel only to the West on 30th Avenue from the site to T. Haas must sign an agreement with the Town that indicates the Town is not liable for damage to the road due to excessive truck traffic by Haas for the 350’ +/- from the driveway entrance to Hwy T. Al second, motion carried.
The Board decided to seed grass around the salt shed and mow it
Bob presented the bids for dugout construction. Ken made a motion to accept the bid from Shefchik for$13,878.O0. Bud second, motion carried.
Ken made a motion to accept the Bohl & Proulx proposal of $7,070.00 for well improvements at the Fire Station. Bud second, motion carried.
Paul discussed chip sealing, crack filling, paving of 10th Street, and culvert replacement. Al suggested bidding these out and having the bids due by the June meeting.
Al reported the Fire Board is having a closed meeting May 19th regarding personnel. The Howard Fire Truck is being discussed again.
Next Board meeting was set for June 9, 2009 at 7 p.m.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
