April 14, 2009 Minutes of the Annual Town Meeting held April 14, 2009
Notices were published in the CHIPPEWA HERALD and LEADER TELEGRAM and posted at the Town Hall, Fire Station, Recycling Center, Eau Claire Travel Center.
Chairman Paul Krumenauer called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The clerk read the minutes of the last Annual Meeting. Bob Sworski made a motion to approve the minutes as read. Al Solberg second, motion carried.
The financial report was prsented. Ruth Fagerland gave an update on the 2008 audit. Bob Sworski discussed the Town's financial shape. Al Solberg discussed anticipated road expenses for 2009. Al Solberg made a motion to approve the financial report. Dale Hawkins second, motion carried.
Paul reported 70th Street will be blacktopped in 2009 and there was a possibility that part of 10th Street would be reconstructed.
Paul also discussed the reconstruction of part of Cty Hwy T that will take place in 2009. Many residents were opposed to the County installing stop signs on Cty Hwy X rather than Cty Hwy T. Al suggested residents form a resolution to present to the County Highway Dept. regarding placement of stop sign at the X & T intersection after reconstruction.
Fred Anderson reported camper trailers need to be licensed or have a permit to be parked on your property.
Eugen Rineck reported there are still a number of properties with junk cars in the Town and also some properties with underground fuel tanks. Al stated the County Zoning Office has been policing this situation and licensed personnel need to be hired for the removal of such property. Paul reminded residents to contact him with a letter and picture of problems regarding the 70th Street reconstruction as soon as possible so corrections can be made before blacktopping. Bob discussed the problem of getting broadband internet service in the eastern part of the Town and has contacted West WI Telcom to try to resolve the problem.
The Wheaton Fire Station Auction is scheduled for April 18, 2009.
Dale Hawkins thanked the residents and members of the Board for their support during his term as supervisor for the Town of Wheaton.
The next Annual Meeting was set for April 13, 2010 at 7 p.m. in Wheaton Town Hall.
Suzanne Menard made a motion to adjourn the Annual Meeting. Maria Konop second, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
